Also try to avoid twisting your hand to snip. If you twist your hand, it might break off but unofficially. Just keep straight while you snip the shells.
The problem is your nuts might be too hard to crack. Try this method.
However, you need to soak them for at least 3 or 4 days to let the moisture penetrate the shell and soften the nutmeats. It can take as much as 7 or 8 days according to how thick the shell is. Then just let them dry to the touch and go ahead and get cracking.
When the nuts have been out of the hull for about two weeks they are at their best stage for cracking and the soaking simply duplicates that condition.

Also important to keep grease on cam shaft and upper ram every few buckets.
