Leave Comments: I bought one of your goody getters back in August of 2018 and I am still using it to this day. It has worn out a few items that I have had to repair but I have literally split upwards of 15,000 nuts. It has worked perfectly from the beginning. Through the years of use I have learned how to process nuts to make them even easier for splitting. I thought I would leave a follow up just to let you know that even though your newer version might be upgraded in someways the older version is still working excellent! I am just so impressed that your product has made cracking black walnuts so easy. I look forward to collecting thousands of walnuts each year just to be able to start cracking again. I had thought about purchasing an additional unit to have a spare, but I guess there’s really no reason to.

Leave Comments: Just a comment of satisfaction ! I am about 1/3 of my way through the cracking season. To date I have produced 31 pounds of walnut goodies and 1 pound of hickory goodies. Hickory is a real challenge. For all the tools I have I would not trade this for anything I really am in to it.
I don't know if you recall but I returned my cracker for repairs last year as I had badly abused it. You were so kind to bail me out and repair to perfect condition. Once again Thank you. To mention a set of dental tools make great nut picks to get to the small pieces.

I only inquired about the possibility of replacement, and two days later it was in the mailbox. Now I can get back to that cake with a heavy layer of black walnuts that I wanted. Leave Comments: I got the Goody Getter for Christmas. I mounted it on a piece of mahogany that I had sanded and finished with wood honey and then had at it. Everyone I know has a story to tell about husking and shelling black walnuts. This thing really works well and will double as part of the story sharing next year. For me, and I hadn't noticed this before, loading the Goody Getter with the most pointed end of the walnut side down seemed to work the best. My wife suggested that I wear safety glasses; I would suggest a chest protector. I'm just kidding, but it does fling shells. The snips were a surprise, but they also really work and can fling bits of shells pretty well in their own right. My wife and I shelled quite a number first time out working as a team, I cracked 'em with the Goody Getter and she snipped out the overly protected ones with the snips. The whole process is fascinating. There's plenty of opportunity for story telling and giggling and the nuts are really good. Thanks, Grandpa, this is the best black walnut sheller yet!

Leave Comments: I purchased my Goody Getter at the end of 2020. I’ve had many hours of enjoyment cracking black walnuts and hickory nuts. This cracker is strong, well built and a hefty piece of equipment. I’ve greased it as recommended and it has worked just as advertised. A spring did break last week and I contacted the website about my situation and received a response that same day. Dennis emailed me and said he would replace and ship a new spring out at no cost to me. The package arrived super fast and I received not one but 4 new springs!
Thank you so much! Now I can get back to cracking more nuts!

Leave Comments: Brilliant machine. I have a black walnut tree and the shell is so hard it is used in sandblasting. I harvested 32 oz. of nutmeat in a fraction of the time with GGG. I recommend befriending a dentist and asking for used dental tools for getting the goodies. Great design, solidly built, no-brainer buy.

After exhausting various methods of attempting to extract the innards of the black walnut, I asked and received Grandpa's Goody Getter as a gift from Santa this past Christmas. This is my first harvest and I have about 2 gal left from a crop of 10-5 gal buckets and GGG is going just as strong as when I started cracking in mid-Feb. I've been very busy since I recieved it and today I just let a couple of things slide so I could set it up and test it. This is the best product I have purchased in a long time! Easy set up, easy to service. DIRECTIONS!! WOW! So many things have horrid directions. Clear , easy read plus the tips are helpful. The first nut I cracked came out in large pieces!! Super easy to use! I look forward to turning all these black walnuts I have hulled into useable large nut meats & NO SMASHED FINGERS! Leave Comments: I have tried many different methods to crack walnuts. This is the fastest method to get bigger pieces and save time getting the nut meats out. In doing this I find I can crack 6 pounds of walnuts in 20 min. This will yield 1 pound of nut meats. You still have to glean much with the cutters but less than any other method I have used.

Leave Comments: I have several black walnut trees on some family property that I've made into a private little campground to go to to relax at. I'm constantly working on it. I knew the trees were there but the last few years haven't paid them much attention. I'd always heard how impossibly hard they are to open and even though I love them, I just didn't wanna bother. But this year, I'd decided early to try things I haven't before So when the nuts started falling, I made the decision to start harvesting them. Learning as I went along, I decided pretty quickly I needed a better way than a hammer and a towel, which pretty much destroys the nuts in the process. So I started looking at mechanical devices for openers. The better made ones looked expensive and even some of those specified "not for black walnuts".
That was when I finally googled "Best Black Walnut cracker". All of those search results lead me to one place....Grandpa's Goody Getter. I balked at the price because that was a lot more that I'd planned to spend. At the same though I read the reviews. That are all positive. Then I watched the videos and saw the demonstrations and saw just how well built this machine is. I was amazed. The other machines I'd researched up to this point had mentioned in fine print that they caaaaan crack black walnuts, but never sounded all that confident. And here is this machine that's a sexy chunk of metal designed specifically for the task I needed done. As I had about 5 pounds of nuts ready and waiting for a method to get them open. So I ordered it.
I received it on Wednesday Nov. 24th. Being the night before Thanksgiving I didn't have a lot of time to play with it. But I got it set up, lubed, and tried a few out. It worked well, from what I could tell, but I needed practice. This week so far, after the Thanksgiving holiday, I've had a few nights to practice on it. I've nearly shelled 5 gallons so far. There is a learning curve on how hard to press, let off, and press again, and learning when to lube the necessary parts. BUT THIS THING IS AMAZING. Knowing how frustrating it is to get black walnuts open, and then using the Goody Getter to do it, is night and day. You still have to pick at them with the snippers, but the more you practice cracking, the less you need the snippers. So far this is an absolutely amazing machine and it's worth every penny. I've got about 20 more gallons to de-hull and then shell, and I'm actually looking forward to learning how I can speed it up and get even bigger chunks. I'm even more looking forward to our family Christmas dinner. Except instead of showing up with a store bought pie, I show up with a black walnut pie made from the walnuts on our family's land, that I harvested and processed myself. I've told everyone who'll listen about this machine, and I'm extremely happy with this purchase.

Leave Comments: I received my walnut / hickory nut cracker yesterday. Put it together today (not much to do😃).
I had my son attach it to a board - and go t to use it for the first time this evening. It took just a little while to figure out the best way to use it on a handful of hickory nuts.
As a kid (many years ago!) I used to crack hickory nuts with a hammer in the shed for my mother to use in cookies. The worst part was to use a pick to pick out the nut meats after cracking. NEVER did the nut meats come out whole.
I LOVE this nut cracker! I have been able to crack hickory nuts and get halves out whole! Unbelievable! I first laid the nut on the platform and pressed it on the flatter side - then stood it up to crack with how hickory nuts are traditionally cracked. This technique yielded the largest pieces.
I have not used on black walnuts yet - but know that I will be just as pleased. I think this was invented by a genius!😎

Leave Comments: Five stars does not do this product justice. The ease of ordering is only surpassed by how easy it is to operate. I ordered it late one night and got an email that it had been sent the very next day. It arrived about 2 days later and it took about 3 minutes to put it together and crack my first pecan. Most of those 3 minutes were spent trying to find some pliers to pull the cotter pin with. A little bit of oil is all the maintenance it needs. I have little neighbor girls (ages 8 and 4) and even they operate this nutcracker like a couple of pros. I have never had much to do with Black Walnuts before because they were too much trouble. Not any more! This is a great company and I can not recommend their products highly enough.

The closest black walnut processor is an hour away, and by the time we make the drive, the remuneration we get for the walnuts barely covers the cost of our gas! So I have been shopping determinedly to find a nut cracker that would do the job. The reviews all assure me that this one will fill the bill. I hope you had a good vacation, because I bet you're going to have your hands full sending out the orders when you get home! This has been a bumper crop year, at least in our yard! Leave Comments: I’ve had my Goody getter for a couple of years now and have cracked several thousand Minnesota black walnuts with it. Seriously I have no idea why a person would use anything else. My 4 young kids love picking out the nutmeats for a snack when I’m working in my shop. It will crack anything from the smallest hazelnuts to the largest walnuts we have.
It takes some force and some practice to crack them just enough but not too much. But it’s a quick learning machine. Great product! I don’t see ever having to replace it, but if I did I would be ordering another without any hesitation.

I ordered another which was a newer version with new type cam. It works so easy that I am now glad I ordered another.
I have one of the other brands of cracker but the grandpas works so much better.
Can't say enough about this cracker. It is well worth the price if you crack many walnuts.

Leave Comments: Started renting a place that had several huge walnut trees in the yard and no one used them....hard to believe! I was looking for something better than a hammer and rock for cracking:-(
This is the greatest little cracker I have ever tried. I mounted it ona block of wood in the yard with a bucket over it when not in use for 5 yrs. and still and in perfect condition.
NOTE: When they tell you to keep it cleaned and well lubricated they mean it. If that cam gets "dry" or gets grit on it you will know. Follow the instruction and will last forever.
PS...I am now cracking a box of walnuts that has been stored on a shelf in a dry location for THREE YEARS and they are still very good...yes I said 3 yrs.

Leave Comments: The hickory trees with a smooth bark, we call pig-hickory. The nuts are very bitter and not worth picking up. You can feed them to someone you don't like, but expect a rock flung at your head for pulling that on anyone.

Leave Comments: We have 1 black walnut tree in our yard. Preparing and cracking the walnuts was becoming a big chore. We came across the web site for Grandpas Goodie Getter by chance. I watched the video and purchased the nut cracker. What a time saver, I can handle cracking the walnuts by myself now. The machine is so easy to use and the walnuts crack in a way that the nut meat is easy to retrieve. Thank you for this wonderful product. When it wears out, I will be ordering another one.

Getting full nutmeats is very difficult with any other process other than using your Goody Getter. I now laugh at watching videos on YouTube about people who are promoting their own design Black Walnut crackers. Your design is, by far, the best I have ever seen or used. Comment: I purchased one of these after several years of working with my own components involving a vise and various other tools. My process was quite efficient until I realized how the Goody Getter could speed up the process. I will tell you this device does an outstanding job of cracking the nuts without damaging the nut meats. It is worth the money if you have any interest in cracking Black Walnuts and having large pieces of nut meats not little broken parts. When I see people post videos of using a hammer to crack the walnuts I just laugh thinking about all the broken pieces. Great design!

Leave Comments: Good morning. I searched the Internet for quite some time for a black walnut cracker and saw many different versions. When I came across your Grandpa's Goody Getter, I decided to purchase one based on the YouTube videos I watched. I was reluctant it would be able to do the job as well as the videos showed.
Now that I received the product and have used it for three months, I am pleasantly surprised at how well it works. The quality of the product and the price point are wonderful. I followed the grease and oil instructions that you provided and I have had no issues at all. I used to use a hammer and vice, which was time consuming and messy. But with the Goody Getter, the job of cracking nuts is fun and fast.
Additionally, I am able to recover all four kernels from 90% of the nuts that I crack without having to use the supplied pliers. This is by far the best nutcracker on the market for the price and quality. It really does what it is designed to do. I am extremely happy with your product and wanted you to know.

Leave Comments: I have purchased three of the machines. I have had them for 4 or 5 years. I was a skeptic until I received my first. I have been very satisfied with the product. I have had trouble with the handles breaking. I contacted the company about the issue, just to find out that they were aware of the issue on the older model and the problem had been resolved with a heaver gage handle. They promptly send me new handles and have not had any further issues. The support I received was awesome and they speak English.

Leave Comments: Your "goody getter" works great!! I am ordering a second one as a gift for my aunt and uncle, as well as extra shears. The shears do a fantastic job of gettin large pieces instead of pickin, diggin, an makin a mess outa nut meats!! They do wear out, but are very economically replaced. My recommendation: if you get the cracker, get extra shears, and invite some of your squirrely friends over for a natures harvest party!!

Leave Comments: Wow! Simply wow. I have one of these by benovlence, or kindness. When I cracked the first hard shelled Black Walnut I was simply amazed at how the device shattered the shell, exposing the nut meat and the numbers of nut meats that simply fell out of the shell. You do have to do some cutting with the nippers but because the device does such a magnificant job the nipping away of the shell is rather quick because of the fracturing of the shell. If you have a few hundred or over a thousand nuts to crack as I, this Goodie Getter will save you pain and agony and long hours of cracking any other way. Before I used a bench vice. It cracked the nuts, but I had a lot of nipping to do and because the shell was not shattered with fracture lines it was more difficult to separate the meat from the shell. You will not be disappointed and once you crack your first black walnut you will be amazed.

The nuts came out in big pieces and was well pleased. I would recommend this cracker if you are harvesting for yourself and want a good tool to help you get the nuts out.

My wife loves black walnuts and it is a Christmas tradition to crack a few quart jars full...much better quality that what you get from Hammons.
