Black walnut cracker makes job easy

Best mechanical device I used so far. I tried two other devices both worked but not as easy. For some reason sometimes the bottom portion of cracker closer does not return to totally open position or sometimes the cam portion slips. If you reset by pushing the handle forward it usually rectifies the situation. The machine is well designed and works great 95% of the time. It has decreased my time for cracking tough nuts greatly. Thanks for a good product.

Good as advertised

The cracker works great. I’m still trying to figure out the right moisture content to work as far as the shell separation from the heart. Some of the nuts I have are a year old.

After much online research we selected this nutcracker to crack our Black Walnuts. It is an engineering marvel! This machine makes cracking the hardest nuts very easy. One can hold their hand around the nut as it is cracked to limit airborne shell shrapnel.

Got it for my wife. She has always used a hammer on a brick ledge outside to crack black walnuts. We are getting older and cold weather tougher to deal with. Now she sets inside. Took her about 4-5 walnuts to get the hang of it. Pretty sure the hammer has been retired.

GGG sturdy and worth the money

Grandpas Goody Getter worked excellent! After trying 3 different nut crackers for my black walnuts, I saw this nutcracker and read all the positive reviews. It was more expensive than the other nutcrackers but for hard to crack black walnuts, it was worth it. Ended up with the largest walnut nutmeats I have ever harvested.

Truth in advertising!

Found this product to be EXACTLY as advertised. Very well made (thus the lifetime guarantee). Be sure to read & follow all maintenance instruction and DON'T tighten any loose screws! I messed up a little on that note, but customer service had me back up and running in no time. Can't say enough good things about this product and the people that stand behind it!

Good Product

I think that the Goody getter works well. I did 2 different 5 qt ice cream pails in about about 30 minutes each. The only think I would like to see is a knob on the end of the bottom cleat that is under the plunger so that I could push it back easier to get the nut in and out. the end of the thumb is a little sore where the existing point of the slide was pushed.

Points of Black Walnut

Excellent.After years of using a ham mer, I discov ered there is distinct difference between the much hard er blossom end sharp point and the stem end of the nut. I load in the hard blossom end DOWN and press the cracker onto the softer stem while I hold the sides of the nut. When I feel the first sign of cracking I back off the pressure just enough to allow me to turn the nut about 1/4 turn, then I slowly finish the stroke which I found the best way to get 4 whole nut meats. Simply put - Hard blossom point down , the softer rounder stem point up.

Best Cracker on the Planet!

I had 55 gallons of black walnut (pre-hulling). We had fun cracking them to the point where we were waiting for our turn. Wonderful machine. We are loaning it to a neighbor now. It will last years. One of my best purchases of the year.
